Prayer in the storm

My prayers, mind, and heart are with the victims of the storm system of 300 miles of destruction in which over 130 tornadoes took lives, homes, businesses, and entire towns. This is one of the worst storm systems in the history of the United States of America.

Lord, be the refuge and strength for all the people involved.

My prayers are with a special person I know who reads this blog. Their family was involved in these storms. (I’m not putting names in an effort to uphold confidentiality for them and their family.)

Lord, comfort everyone involved. Wrap them in Your wings, place them in the cleft of the mountain and in a safe place. Hold them near. Guide them as they have to make decisions and be their way.

God bless everyone involved in these storms.

News

This blog will really begin in August and September 2011.

I will do blog posts between now and then, but wait until then and it will really start. Since we’re moving at the end of June, and across the country nonetheless, there’s a great deal that needs to be done around my house.

Check out the pj4life1 blog below. That’s my main blog. The other blog I will devote a bulk of my attention to is the A Life of Seasons blog listed below as well. I am working on writing the 1st biblical fiction book of that series.

Remembering Rest #1 by Stacy Duplease of Remembering Your Present, LLC and pj4life (Prayer Journaling for Life)

Life is crazy.

I mean that in the best and worst connotations.

Life is crazy, busy, and full of challenges. It’s also a blessing.

So, how do we deal with the crazy busyness in our lives?

How do we deal with not having enough time or money to do the things we value most?

How do we deal with not having enough time to breathe—let alone take a day off each week. And, who heard of having a vacation? Let alone going on vacation at least four times per year?

We’re busy.

We’re tired.

We can’t do it all, but we sure try.

Something has got to give.

We’re not fully happy.

There’s something missing in our lives.

So, what now?

That’s what this blog is about. Shall we get started?

Thoughts on Psalm 46:10

Bible Reading: Psalm 46

Focus Verse: Psalm 46:10

Read Psalm 46 in your own Bible. Then, take a look at least one other version, but preferably several versions.

Now, let’s look at Psalm 46:10.

Be still…

Desist…

Stop…

Be silent…

…and know that He is God.

Know—without fail and without doubt.

Desist and stop moving, be still, be silent, and know that He is God.

God. The Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. The Author and finisher of our faith.

Psalm 46 talks about a crazy time.

Verse 1 refers to times of trouble.

Verse 6 highlights those troubles and tells us what they were.

God is so powerful that He can stop war (see verse 9). A war is something mighty, powerful, and always moving and changing. God is so powerful that He can stop a war… But not any war. All of them. War is plural in Psalm 46:9.

When at war, stop and be silent. Then know without fail that He is God.

Life is war in many ways.

Through the busyness and challenges of life, we need to stop… Be still and silent… And know that He is God.

Be still… Stop… Think of and know God through it all.

Remembering Rest

This blog is about being still and knowing that He is God (Psalm 46:10).

I also call this blog, “Remembering Rest” because that will be the name of the first book that I create from this blog. I will write my thoughts about resting with the Lord in this blog.
